Times Square

You are here:
Times Square was an arcade and pinball parlor located at 2836 N Broadway in Chicago's former New Town (now Lakeview) neighborhood. It was part of the vibrant arcade scene that flourished in the city during the late 1970s and 1980s. The arcade offered a variety of video games and became a favorite spot for gaming enthusiasts. Ed Boon and John Tobias, creators of the Mortal Kombat series, mentioned Times Square arcade. It was a test location for Mortal Kombat II in 1992.

Unfortunately, the arcade's history wasn't entirely positive. Chicago Tribune articles noted that the arcade was "a sleazy hangout for runaways and other street hardened kids" in the early 80's. In December of 1980, four girls were involved in the robbery and murder of a 32 year old man, who had picked them up at the arcade.

The arcade operated from at least 1980-1992, based on historical evidence. But its exact opening date and closing date are not known.
